Another upcoming foreign movie, ‘Highway to Dhampus’ must be watch especially by Nepalese whose shooting took place on Phalpu, Solukhumbhu and Dhampus itself. The shooting of the movie ‘Highway to Dhampus’, started in 2012 and will be releasing in 2014 soon though the exact date is not confirmed yet. This movie is made by an American producer John de Blass Williams and director Rick McFarland along with the American Actor Gunner Wright and British actress and model Rachel Clare Hurd-wood. Rachel is known for her role as Wendy Darling in the 2003 film Peter Pan.
Most of the shoot of the movie is done in Nepal. It was the first independent feature film shot entirely in Nepal by a foreign director and crew. We will be seeing some Nepali actors like Rajballav Koirala who is sharing the screen with these foreign stars. The English actress Rachel is in the female lead role with Suesha Rana, Desh Bhakta Khanal, and child artist Sayush Gurung. Rajballav feels himself lucky to have had a chance to work in Hollywood Venture. According to him this movie has strengthened the relations between the Nepalese and American Government, where he will be playing the role of Pilot.
Rachel, Actress/model, was very excited about her shoot in Nepal for this movie, “It was a great experience shooting in Dhampus”, and with this movie we can see a positive outlook towards the changes in Nepal”. Though crew member faces difficulties arose by electricity cut off.
The American director of this movie Mc Farland took a research trip to Kathmandu in 2011 and found Nepal which was both absolutely foreign and surprisingly similar to his home state of Utah in US. Highway to Dhampus movie is very important to Mc Farland because he is portraying much from his own experiences and rendering them into a Nepal setting.
Nepal look forward to bagging more Hollywood movies to shoot like earlier this year there was whole Hollywood crew members were in Nepal to shoot movie ‘The Everest’, which encourage people all around the world to visit Nepal and will promote Nepal.
