World’s largest cave Son Doong of Vietnam.
Hang Son Doong cave is the world’s largest cave which in Vietnam’s Quang Binh ProvinceVietnam. The cave looks magnificent from inside.
The name “Son Doong” cave means “mountain river cave” in Vietnamese. Son Doon Cave is located near the Laos-Vietnam border which is the world’s largest cave.
The cave is 5.5 miles long, 650ft wide, and 500ft tall.
It was created 2-5 million years ago by river water eroding away the limestone underneath the mountain Where the limestone was weak, the ceiling collapsed creating huge skylights. Son Doong cave is made up of a network of at least 150 individuals caves, has its own river, lake and jungle
This cave of Vietnam was found by a local man named Ho-khanh in 1991. In 2009 the cave became internationally known after a group of scientists from the British Cave Research Association, led by Howard and Deb Limbert conducted survey in Phong Nha-Ke Bang.
There is a large, fast-flowing underground river inside the cave. The biggest chamber of Son Doong is more than 5 km long, 200 metres high and 150 metres wide. It took the title of world’s largest cave from the Deer Cave of Malaysia.
